17 hours does not seem very long for a masterpiece such as this!
Great Work! Saved!

i think the strangeness in the depth occurs because some of the rings dont appear as rings, they appear to be strands of particles running tangent to the rings. sometimes it causes visual confusion for me. take for instance the one that confuses my eye the most. there are dust clouds a bit above and below the star. the ones above merge with the very well defined ring and dont cause alot of problems, but the ones below also merge with the well defined ring. when they merge, my eye goes around the top of the ring, and then follows the lower dust cloud, instead of around the back part of the ring, so it completely confuses my eye and pulls it away from the really nice job you did with the perspective of the ring. the same sort of happens because of the shape of the rings at the top. but im probably seeing things most people arent seeing. its just me. sorry i wrote a tome.
your paintings always amaze me. theyre just fantastic in concept and execution.

Ikaika - Thanks for the extended critique, you hit exactly upon the major problem I encountered with this composition. The problem I had was trying to have a close-to-viewer upper and lower ring, the lower one carrying ice asteroids and the up being quite a way above. This compounded with the fact that the viewer is actually underneath the main ring orbit made it quite hard to convey a realistic cloud formation that would allow for this to happen. It almost sent me bonkers
Ultimately, the image represents a quite disorganised, early solar system which does not yet have continuity of orbit path for all objects and gases. Well that's my excuse anyway

what exactly is a wacom tablet? Is that something that controls your "mouse" or "pointer" on the screen?
I do alot of freehand drawings myself, and I play around with stuff on the computer, but if I were able to use something to actually *draw* on my screen with some kinda pad recognition or something, I would totally be buying me one.

whats the main difference between pressure sensitive settings such as 512 and 1028?
Is a larger working area absolutely necessary?
What are some brands to stay away from?
