Description

Just fooling around with some ideas.

A concept painting that shows some high speed - low altitude - craft, racing over a desert landscape.

Tried a little different shading style for this (a bit Syd Mead ish if I dare say...).

The image took about 11-12 hours.

Photoshop CS - Wacom. Original res 5250x2500

Two links - a 1280 wide desktop and a 1280 crop.

beautiful work - as usual. wonderul play with color, perspective and sense of movement.

crit:
As big as the aircraft is in the frame it would have been nice to see you flesh out the surface a bit more. decals, dirt, smoke streams -less uniform and linear ... etc.

The shadow could use more refinement as well which would add to the weight of the aircraft - would the shadow be uniform and as crisp as it is or would you have edges blurred and some darker and lighter areas in the shadow ...

A sense of depth of field would have been nice (middleground craft in focus, everything else out of focus) - a very subtle touch would be all you need. Tasty.

These are just thoughts and responses. great work. 8+

I like how you have a craft going of the top of the image. It puts the viewer right in the action. The sence of speed is also well done. All your works are always tight and clean. You rarely leave brush strokes which produces high quality images, but I like to see you do one digital painting that actually shows your strokes. Just a little request :)

It's fantastic, and it is easy to tell that the setting is a desert-like area, especially with the outcroppings being easily visible behind the ship. the lighting is great too.

You're works are amazing +7/7

too good...keep it up. Super angle.

interesting idea to have one craft going above the "camera". Though I wonder if the camera is moving too, because only then you should be seeing that blur in ground. Somehow I think it would have been better if the camera wasn't moving.

It's awesome though

And Seijuro, do you mean the drop shadow thing? he picked that blue color that is seen next to images, pasted his work into new document that was filled with that blue color, and drop shadowed his image. Drop Shadow and blue color are included to his final image that is uploaded to server. You probably didn't understand though. Sorry Antifan if I revealed your secret :p

Amazing image :). Regarding the camera i guess that it is mounted on the highmost aircraft (like on F1 cars for TV broadcast) ? that would make the camera move with the ships giving that great sensation of speed. Crow If camera wasn't moving motion blur would have to be inverse (detailed sharper landscape and blurred the ships) and guess that would have ruined this pic's subject. In my modest opinion I'ts great as it is. +8

Regards.

Mesh.

Fine work - great depth and portrayal of motion. The color and composition are commendable, but I can't say I care for the presentation. Someone else said it reminded them of Ryan Church's work; I agree. Have you seen his "matte vehicle" dvd at the gnomon workshop? I't's on my wishlist, that's for sure! The only problem is that the price is a bit high. :(

I'm sad to say I don't quite like this as much as your other works. Just how I *feel* about it. I don't blame you or a lack of skill by you, I blame me for.... umm.. not liking it I suppose. It's still a great image, but not on the same level as your others. to me. to a normal person it'd be great. I have a... different personality and perspective than most.
