Surrounded by mountains, the waters of an evening sea, a delicate sunset and the activity of a large city; An ancient temple stands high, dwarfed by life and framed in nature. It’s about time I got a new VA piece done.
This piece was created in Photoshop CS with my trusty Wacom Intous 2 tablet.
Original res: 4600x3500
~18-19 hours.

I am just curious about canvas. It's unexpected format, have you cut out something from the bottom ?

Another thing that really catches my attention is your use of colour; you use the great 'classic' feeling of your images, the variations of warm tone mixed with the soft cool colours, in overall the impression is fairly warm & cosy but with a great mix of colour, something i admire in your art.
I also love the use of lighting, & the oh so Gary Tonge stylised architectures & landscape designs, i love how everything reflects; the wispy, soft clouds reflect the luminescence of the sun, the buildings shine a golden glow that makes you feel the heat, the pinacle like structures & landscapes give a sense of advanced civilisation yet at the same time a ravaged worn & dangerous world, the buildings make you feel like a beast has been tamed but is still existent to extent.
The lighting, the ships, the gradientations & texture, i personally cant help but wonder how you execute them so well, i cant help but ask, something i always have trouble with is composition; mainly in large canvases such as the one you stated for your image: '4600x3500', what i wish to ask is how you create the overall composition so that you can then work on all the detailing? If its a sketch i ask how you convey it to that immense size while keeping the scale of perspectives/composition, just wondering!
In overall i believe the image seems to give a view of feelings related to taming a world; places can exist in the most strangest of locations, it also shows a sense of mystery & the warmth seems to counteract like a layer above the shrouded mysteries.
Once again you impress me & everyone else, Many thumbs up for the good work!
